The Arts Award

The Arts Awards are a big part of DJ Workshops Ltd. We took a long time to find an accreditation for our courses and believe that the Arts Awards are the best by far! We have had over 400 students pass the bronze Award and have just had our first school pass the Silver Award. We run the Arts Awards at Bronze, Silver and Gold Level and our Tutors are Art Award Advisors. If you are not already an Arts Award Centre then we can register you.

For the Students

We have developed our courses so that the students find them easy to understand and are easily achieved.  We find that the way we have re worded the course has made a huge difference to the students learning process. The students make a folder with write up, Photos, CDs and videos of their work. We help the students produce all the course work needed for their folders as we do everything there is no need for your school to take up valuable time in making sure the work is done ! Students are proud of what they have achieved through the course and it’s the first time that some of the students have received an accreditation for their work.

For the School

We have successfully passed students that have special needs or are on the SEN register. Your school will get 6.3 performance points for each student pass for the Bronze and for 23 for Silver.

Arts Award Access Fund

We are able to apply for the Access fund for your school to use for the course, we usually use this for another artist to attend for the students to review.  This would be a half or full day depending on how many students are doing the Award and at what level. The access fund has to be applied for and we cannot grantee that we will get it.

Arts Awards Moderations

We run the Arts Awards in all our subjects and we have moderations at the end of each term. As we work in so many schools and youth organisations we do shared moderations which keep the cost down. We like to move the moderation venues each time and we would like you to consider if you run the Arts Award program that you will be a host school once a year ! All that is required is that you allocate a room for the Tutor running your course on an agreed date arranged between your school and DJ Workshops Ltd. We lay out all folders of each school for the Moderator to look at and decided if the student has passed. This usually takes a day depending on how many schools are in the moderation. Your students will need to come to the moderation for 15 minutes usually in the afternoon and a time suitable for you for the moderator to have a chat with the students. This is very laid back and students find it a lot of fun talking about what they have been doing on their course.

At the end of the moderation the students are allowed to take their folders home.

The Arts Award is on the Qualification Credit Framework and is accredited by Ofqual (Office for Qualifications and Examinations Regulator - previously QCA). Trinity College London is the awarding body for the Arts Award and work in close partnership with Arts Council England.

How you will receive the points

Trinity College London provide details of all successful candidates to the Department of Education regulators so that points will be allocated to your school/college automatically. Check that you have registered your school or college accurately with the Arts Award team so that the points can be matched up correctly. Points will only be allocated to candidates at the end of their compulsory schooling in year 11. Therefore, centres that offer the qualification in earlier years will not receive the appropriate points until year 11.

Qualification summary

This qualification forms part of a suite of examinations, which span the range of objectives from Level 1 to Level 3. This qualification, which forms part of a suite of examinations, offers progression up to a level of proficiency that is appropriate for entry to Higher education, Trinity’s higher-level Diplomas in music, drama and speech, as well as other qualifications such as Higher National Certificates (HNCs) and Higher National Diplomas (HNDs) in the performing and visual arts.
